New rules for fatigue load models at the guideline for recalculation of road bridges With the revision of the recalculation-guideline, experiences of the last few years as well as new knowledge on action- and resistance-side aspects of the assessment of road bridges are normatively implemented. One focus is the realistic assessment of fatigue stress. The relevant previous regulations of levels 1 and 2 as well as their current improvements are explained in the article. An important goal of the revision was to be able to take traffic influences into account at level 1 of a recalculation already. Levels 3 and 4 of the recalculation-guideline cover the measurement-based assessment and the application of further scientific methods. The knowledge got through structural monitoring is often of great benefit within the recalculation. Additional information on these two levels creates the potential to make even better use of reserves of the structures - a contribution to sustainable use of our resources. |
