Abstract:	Mit elementaren Betrachtungen wird das komlexe Tragverhalten der nunmehr bereits 115 Jahre dem Verkehr dienenden Brooklyn-Brücke über den East River aufgezeigt. Dabei ist zu bedenken, daß beim Baubeginn im Jahr 1869 die Theorie 2. Ordnung, welche die Kabelverformung erfaßt, noch nicht bekannt war.
