Title:	"Das Zeichnen ist die Sprache des Ingenieurs" - Karl Culmann (1821-1881)
Abstract:	Nach einer Charakterisierung der graphischen Statik folgt eine kurze Beschreibung von Culmanns Leben. Karl Culmann (1821-1881) ist einer der bedeutendsten Ingenieurwissenschaftler des 19. Jahrhunderts. Er hat wesentliche Beiträge zur Verwissenschaftlichung des Ingenieurwesens geleistet. Er ging dabei davon aus, daß "das Zeichnen die Sprache des Ingenieurs" ist; der Inbegriff von Wissenschaft war für ihn die Mathematik, daher entwickelte er auf der Basis der projektiven Geometrie Poncelets die Graphische Statik. Sie sollte die Grundlagendisziplin sein, auf die sich die ingenieurwissenschaftlichen Untersuchungen stützen sollten. Der biographische Teil berichtet auch über Culmanns Zeit bei den bayerischen Eisenbahnen, über die bisher nicht allzuviel bekannt war.
