Abstract:	Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden anhand von zwei Fallbeispielen und allgemeinen Betrachtungen Bedingungen und Mechanismen der Mazeration als eine Erscheinungsform der chemischen Korrosion behandelt. Beschrieben werden Erscheinungsbild, Ursachen und Mechanismen der Mazaration bei flamm- und holzschutzmittelbehandelten Hölzern eines Dachstuhles sowie bei durch Laugebehandlung geschädigete Fensterflügel eines ehemaligen Garnisonslazaretts.
