Hlawatsch, Frank; Aycil, Hakan; Kropp, Jörg | Autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) rubble for new recycling building products: In dry premixed mortars for masonry, in masonry blocks and in lightweight blocks / Neue Recyclingbaustoffe aus Porenbetonbruch: In Werktrockenmörteln für Mauerwerk, in Mauersteinen und in leichten Schaumsteinen | Mauerwerk | 6/2019 | 364-377 | Berichte |
AbstractIn cooperation of Bremen Institute for Materials Testing (MPA Bremen), a Department of Leibniz Institute for Materials Engineering IWT, Bremen University of Applied Sciences and the Research Association RWB Bremen building products for masonry structures were developed on the basis of AAC rubble from C&D wastes. Granulates from processed AAC rubble were introduced as aggregates in dry premixed masonry mortars, in masonry blocks and lightweight building blocks and elements to replace completely natural aggregates. These recycling products exhibit beneficial technical properties, at the same time large volumes of AAC wastes may be re-used. x
Kreft, Oliver | Autoclaved aerated concrete with sulphate content: an environmentally friendly, durable and recyclable building material / Sulfathaltiger Porenbeton: Ein umweltfreundlicher, langlebiger und recyclingfähiger Baustoff | Mauerwerk | 5/2017 | 287-296 | Fachthemen |
AbstractAutoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) contains a small quantity of sulphate. For example, a modern quality class PP2-0,35 AAC (&lgr; = 0.09 W/(mK)) from Xella contains about five per cent by mass of sulphate in the form of gypsum or anhydrite. The addition of sulphate reduces shrinkage and enhances compressive strength and durability. AAC thus has an almost unrestricted lifetime. Regarding the environmental acceptability of sulphate, dogmatic discussions have been held for years. What is certain: sulphate is not a hazardous substance. Calcium sulphate (gypsum) has been categorised according to the Directive (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP) as not hazardous. Xella's voluntary environmental declarations for AAC confirm not only the excellent ecological balance of this product but also the absence of hazardous substances. x

AbstractThe heat storage capacity of building materials can have a significant influence on energy consumption and thermal comfort of buildings. This paper investigates the correlations between heat storage capacity and thermal performance. A test building made of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) bricks was constructed in Kloster Lehnin/Emstal (Germany) with the same heat transition coefficient U for the walls, floor, and roof. The heating and ventilation of the building is controlled automatically. Xella and the Department of Building Physics/Low Energy Buildings of Technische Universität Kaiserslautern have been monitoring the test building since April 2017. The thermal performance and comfort of the AAC test building were investigated by measurements and simulations. The results were compared to simulations of a light weight building with the same geometry and heat transition coefficients U. The examinations showed that the heat storage capacity of the AAC has a positive influence on summer heat protection and thermal comfort of buildings in comparison to light weight constructions (LWC). In summer, the increased heat storage capacity of AAC compared to LWC improves thermal comfort. During the heating period, AAC buildings with a higher heat storage capacity in comparison to LWC offer the advantage of a slower cooling down of the indoor air temperature. x

AbstractConstruction projects such as the construction of a new metro system can require extensive compensation grouting measures for existing buildings. A comprehensive monitoring system and corresponding data management system (DMA) are crucial monitoring elements throughout the construction process. Elevation grouting prevents any impact the construction measures may have on buildings located in the vicinity. For this purpose, tubes-à-manchettes are installed in a tight grid underneath the buildings. Double packers are used to achieve stabilisation at an early stage, i.e. contact grouting. Therefore, if tunnel driving causes the subsoil to settle, elevation grouting can be introduced as a countermeasure. By using the data provided by water level gauges, the system automatically proposes a measure, which is transmitted to the grouting platform following the check and approval by the responsible engineer. The machine operator selects the sleeve and starts the fully automated grouting process. Each grouting process is recorded, transmitted to the DMS, analyzed in real time, checked and visualized. All parties involved in the project are able to view the data via the web platform at any time and are provided with comprehensive information. x |
