Successful Symposium IngD4C #2

On November 24, 2020, the 2nd Symposium Ingenieurbaukunst – Design for Construction (IngD4C #2) took place in Berlin. Based on the new yearbook "Ingenieurbaukunst 2021", the discourse revolved around "Climate protection, resource efficiency and what next?"

It can be summed up as follows: Efficient structural forms must aim at buildings that can be used flexibly in the long term. The Greta generation takes the pressing questions to universities and offices and expects solutions. With solid technical knowledge, holistic and unorthodox thinking is needed to get closer to them. Robust solutions with user-friendliness and design quality were seen as the answer to the trend towards new low-tech approaches.

Rapidly evolving timber construction requires a similarly structured approach to established construction methods in order to keep pace. In short, engineers have a role model function and responsibility for sustainable construction and must act together to find solutions.
