Regarding the Introduction of EN-Eurocodes

Editorial from Stahlbau 11/2010.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Richard Stroetmann

On 25 August 2010 the special commission on construction technology of the construction secretaries' conference informed in writing of the planned introduction of the Eurocodes. From 1 July 2012 on the first package consisting of Eurocodes 0 through 5, 7 and 9, shall officially come into effect.

This gives engineering offices and other companies a clear orientation on when the changeover to European codes will take place even though this comes with some effort. It is now time to start obtaining the new codes and relevant commentaries as well as updated tables, textbooks and design software, but most importantly it will be time to train the employees in using and applying these new codes.
