German Council of Civil Engineering Faculties statement on the title of "engineer" and academic degree of "Dipl.-Ing."

Who is allowed to use the professional title of "engineer"?

Should the academic degree of "Dipl.-Ing." be reintroduced?

At its board meeting last June in Berlin the German Council of Civil Engineering Faculties agreed on a statement regarding current developments concerning the introduction of the professional title "engineer" as well as the academic degree of "Dipl.-Ing.". The Council is the union of all civil engineering faculties in German polytechnics and represents the faculties' interests on a political and social level.
