Mauerwerk 04/15
CoverStory: In August of 2002, extreme flooding destroyed the almost 300 year-old listed arched bridge– known as Pöppelmann’s Stone Bridge – across the Mulde River in Grimma. The floodwaters undermined several bridge piers of the 7-bay arched bridge. A partial reconstruction constituted a compromise between recreating the historic design of the bridge and the requirement for fl ood protection. The bridge was reopened in August 2012 (s. pp. 327–331). Photo: © INROS LACKNER AG
