Eurocode advocate passed away

At the age of 72, Professor Dr.-Ing. Gerhard Sedlacek passed away on February 1st, 2012. Through his pioneering works he not only shaped his own discipline, steel construction, for decades but also other areas in construction and even other fields of engineering.

Relentlessly and as a convinced European he banked on tight cooperation with the European Commission, especially with the JRC at Ispra, and thus managed to gain massive support from all EU member states for the implementation of the Eurocodes as well as their simplification, standardisation, continued development up to their international application until this very day.
