About the book
The book deals with the design of bolted and welded joints in frames and in tubular structures according to EN 1993 Eurocode 3.
Chapter 1 introduces the characteristics of joints in frames, especially beam-to-column joints, chapter 2 deals with pinned joints in frames with fin plate, partial depth end-plate or angles, chapter 3 deals with different types moment resistant joints in frame analysis, chapter 4 describes common types of column bases and chapter 5 is about hollow section joints from general characteristics to behaviour, analytical models and design practice including the relationship between the design rules in Eurocode 3 and the design recommendations of ISO, IIW and CIDECT.
The book covers joint classification, modelling of joint characteristics, e.g. the component method, joint resistance including eccentricities and requirements for rotational capacity and stiffness as well as conceptual and detail design, worked examples and execution aspects.
